i shall imbue myself with...

confession time: i do get pretty envious of people who are able to write and express their thoughts very well. i'm amazed and inspired with the wide profound and range of vocabulary of words that they use. i’m also tickled by the fact that they are able to describe something so simple and yet in a sophisticated manner. impressive. i just wanna be like them. and just when i told myself to stop being reliant on spell checks, here am i cheating by typing on MsWord at the moment before posting this up.

during an eye-opening conversation and discussion i had with sha last night, i was overwhelmed with embarrassment. the english language that we’ve been using in our daily lives has been taken for granted. i had brushed aside the fundamentals of the english language: noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, adjective, present progressive, past perfect tense and the list goes on. and so after the conversation, i decided that it’s time to get back to the basis of the language. to my astonishment, i discovered more fundamentals! ok, so here’s the list that i’ve compiled so far with references from www.dictionary.com:

noun - the part of speech that is used to name a person, place, thing, quality, or action and can function as the subject or object of a verb, the object of a preposition, or an appositive.

pronoun - the part of speech that substitutes for nouns or noun phrases and designates persons or things asked for, previously specified, or understood from the context.
e.g: she, he

verb - the part of speech that expresses existence, action, or occurrence in most languages

adverb – the part of speech that modifies a verb, adjective, or other adverb.

adjective - the part of speech that modifies a noun or other substantive by limiting, qualifying, or specifying and distinguished in english morphologically by one of several suffixes, such as -able, -ous, -er, and -est, or syntactically by position directly preceding a noun or nominal phrase.

so sha, correct me if i get this wrong:
Sha [noun] laughs [verb] the loudest [adjective]. She [pronoun] also runs [verb] very quickly [adverb].

and i’ve decided to cultivate the habit of reading more books now and to instil discipline to finish the book that i read as most of my books are half-read. ;(
