He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers$BlogItemTitle$>
a voice says, "cry out."
and i said, "what shall i cry?"
"all men are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
because the breath of the LORD blows on them.
surely the people are grass.
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the Word of our God stands forever."
- Isaiah 40:6-8
i couldn't help but just had a sense of guilt as i laid down in bed last night thinking of what happened that could have changed my life. i was on the way to my friend's house to pass him 2 documents, and there was this pedestrian [apparently oblivious of my oncoming car] and crossed the road. it didn't occur to me later until i realised that - what if i had accidentally hit him? then on my way back home, there was this reckless driver who just [suddenly] made a turn into another lane [when i was in the right of way!!]. it just happened so fast that i didn't have time to respond to honk at him. thank God i stepped on the brakes in time.
today as i read chapter 40 of isaiah this morning, it reflects how a death of a person is like. we're just like grass; people might know that the grass is there. but if a grass should die, who will take note of it? who will remember that that particular was there? what we do on earth, who will remember forever?
sometimes i wonder, and i did wonder, what will people say of me at my funeral? hmmm. [don't worry, i'm not having any suicidal thoughts]. ;)
